PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Western Branch Lions,

I attended the first Cabinet Meeting today and learned all the good things the local Lions are up to! We will be participating in many of those activities (I hope) and even more of ours. We aren’t going to even have a chance to sit down this month!  

First, let me congratulate PDG Lion Clay Senecal for his Ambassador of Good Will Award. It is the highest award given at International and one of only 12 in the world!   Past International Director Lion “Moon” Kosjer presented the award to Lion Clay.

Clay was also endorsed for an International Director’s position.  Congratulations Lion Clay!

Coming up in August we have our Board Meeting on August 5^th at the Russell Memorial Library. Board members remember the new location! Aug. 13^th. is the Lions Medical Eye Bank Annual Dinner at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club.

Volunteers are needed August 16^th for  the S & H Van in South Norfolk for the needy. The address is 1745 Acorn Street; Chesapeake, VA 23324.  August 19^th is our regular meeting at the Golden Corral.  August 20^th is Region II meeting at the VFW Hall in Norfolk ($13 for dinner due by 8/14).  On August 28^th the Sight and Hearing Van will be at Wilson High School from 8:30-12:30. If you didn’t sign up, please do. 

Don’t forget our first Pancake Breakfast fundraiser at Applebees on Saturday, Sept. 6^th. If you didn’t sign up, it’s not too late. Remember we all have tickets to sell. Let’s make this our best Pancake Breakfast yet!  If you need more tickets, see Lion Peg Cicirelli.

Coming up too this fall is our Fall White Cane Fundraiser. Lion Willis is working on a date with WalMart. He will let us know details as soon as he has them.

Lion Vince’s program for the August meeting is a speaker from the HER Shelter. We have been supporting them for years and we all want to know more about HER! Don’t forget to bring your school supplies to our next two dinner meetings for them!

Whew! Are you tired yet?? We haven’t even gotten started!
